presidents-messageIt is an exciting time to be a part of the District 113 Education Foundation!

This summer on the evening of August 2nd at Beelow’s Highland Park we will be hosting a meet and greet for the new Deerfield High School principal Kathryn Anderson and current Highland Park High School principal Tom Koulentes. Please join us for a reception at 5:30 and stay for dinner!. Please RSVP to Marjie Sandlow at msandlow@aol.com. A percentage of proceeds of the event will benefit the Foundation.

This year donations supported over $18,000 in grants to 15 groups at Deerfield and Highland Park High Schools, including science department programs Measuring Cardiac Health, Genetics Enrichment & Innovation, and Mitochondrial DNA; math department programs Vernier Data Probes and TI-Nspire faculty training; and support programs Mosaic, De Padre A Estudiante, and HP3, among others. Funds raised by the Foundation enhance and enrich education programs such as these by promoting and supporting innovative educational opportunities. Our funding helps provide resources that augment and incubate exciting ideas and opportunities to deeply impact student learning. Over the years the Foundation has funded grants in excess of $200,000.

Thanks in advance to everyone for supporting the Foundation by joining us on August 2nd and for supporting our other events:: Broadway in Chicago’s Hamilton, the annual Pizza Bowl and Baker’s Cup, Don’t Eat Home for Homecoming, and our Chipotle fundraiser.

Please also consider making a donation to thank a teacher or staff member for going above and beyond through our Honor an Educator program.
